A Tenth of a Mile

This afternoon I picked up my quilts from the quilter.  I love them both!

Here is my cousin's T-shirt quilt.  She's going to love the basketball design:
Action shot of Nigel checking out the back:
And here's The General.  I picked a vine panto.

It is definitely huge!  I can't wait to wash it to shrink it up a bit.
My husband told me it doesn't match our bedroom walls (suddenly he thinks he's a design expert), but I don't care.  More reason to make more bed quilts!!

The amount of binding to do is sort of ridiculous.  When I added it all up, it equals 1/10 of a mile! Crazy.  I stitched the binding to the front of the T-shirt quilt this afternoon (you know I couldn't wait to get started) so I'll start the hand stitching tonight.  Better get stretching!

I love that basketball design! What a great quilt. Same goes for The General, and I don't think it clashes with the bedroom walls :) Maybe that shows my lack of design expertise... -Joanne

I love the basketball design on the back of the t-shirt quilt. Very innovative, but perfect, though with the squiggles between the balls, it makes me think of paddle balls... As for the hubby and his interior design expertise - I understand that oddity completely! :)

The basketball quilt is SO cool!! And the General quilt is gorgeous. I think it looks great in your bedroom - Quilts usually have lots of different colors in them anyway.

What kid wouldn't love that basketball quilt! What a treasure! The General is beautiful, and so is the quilting! You'll have the bindings on by the weekend! ---"Love"

They both look wonderful. And it looks like you have the Nigel seal of approval! Will he let you give it away?

Egads... I never would have thought to actually calculate the length of a binding. Just the number of strips is daunting enough for me!

The General...what a wonderful quilt to be able to sleep under.

I love the basketball quilting, it is perfect with the T-shirts! What a great gift. The General is really pretty, too. Maybe the reds don't match the color of the room, but they accent it well. Really nice job!

They really did come out great. The basketball is perfect! And the General looks great on your bed. I actually like binding my quilts. I bind all of one of my friend's quilts for her.
I do not know what it is with these men. Mine is always asking me if colors go together, but when we were getting some stuff for the house he has opinions. ??

Wow! Both quilts are awesome. The basketball quilting really suits the quilt top. And I just love the French General bedquilt. Yummy! Isn't it a lovely fabric range? I have 36 fat quarters in that range, but haven't decided what to do with them yet.

Your quilter is certainly a keeper! The quilting patterns are perfect on both quilts. You can surprise hubby with a few decorative pieces to pick up colors in the quilt and tie the colors in just fine. Am I the only one who puts on the binding with the walking foot? Mary

They both look amazing - what a fabulous quilter you have. I use the walking foot to attach binding too. You'd bet get cracking on those bindings - that's quite a length to sew! Ann :-)

I don't even want to think of how many miles I've quilted!!! Too bad we can't burn calories doing it, or I'd be a supermodel!!
Happy Quilting!!
