Quilt guilds and elephants

Today was the first Philly Modern Quilt Guild meeting.  It was so fun to meet some quilters in the area who are younger/young at heart and to see some great projects!  I'm really excited to see how the group comes together in the months to come :)  Liri it was great to meet you in person- your projects are gorgeous.

Earlier today I took a trip up to JoAnns to buy batting for "The General" (I fnally settled on a name), batting and backing fabric for the T-shirt quilt, and some baby fabric for my husband's coworker.  They had a baby girl and have an elephant themed nursery.  The fabrics aren't quite as girly as I'd usually go for, but I like the prints.  I'll make my standard baby quilt so I can crank it out quickly.

Off to sew!

Isn't that wonderful that you and Liri could meet? Love the fabrics you chose--very colorful. There are enough pinks to be "girlie". This looks like a fun project! Mary

I'm so glad you had such a nice time at your guild meeting and meeting Liri was a real treat. Fab fabrics for the baby quilt (those giraffe are pretty cute). Happy Stitching, Ann :-)

Cute elephants. There is enough pink in there to suggest girl, and anyway, while you usually can't get away with pink for a boy, you can wing it for a girl. I never would have dressed my son in pink, but my daughter wore her share of blue hand me downs after him (but don't worry, she got to wear loads of pink too, more than I ever thought I would dress her in!) How wonderful to have a new quilt guild. Enjoy! -Joanne

Sounds like guild was fun. And you met Liri, cool.
I like your fabrics for the baby quilt. The colors are really pretty and I think girly enough. The baby will love her quilt.

It will be nice to have a blue accent amongst the sea of pink! I love your fabric choices. Looking forward to seeing your "standard" baby quilt. Mine is the Irish Chain or some other 9 patch variation. I like it for the same reason - I can create it very quickly.

Very sad that I missed the meeting! And I'll miss March, too, but I can't wait to meet you in April! LOL. I love these prints.
